«Knowledge for a safe and sustainable society»

Today, we launch our new slogan: "Knowledge for a safe and sustainable society"

Fire and fire research can be quite abstract for some people, and many may feel that it does not concern them directly.

With our new slogan we want to communicate that fire affects us all, and to illustrate how our research makes a difference.

For us, a safe society is a society where there are no fire fatalities. This implies that our homes should be constructed and furnished in a way that prevents fires from occurring and developing, the electrical products we buy must be designed in such a way that they do not catch fire and that there are good fire prevention practices, detection- and extinguishing systems where we work.

With a sustainable society, we mean a society where fires does not cause large emissions of smoke and other substances which are harmful to the environment, a society where the consequences of fires are so small that companies do not incur substantial financial loss and that the costs of fire protective measures can be held at an acceptable level.

To get a safe and sustainable society, we need knowledge of fire.
