Work with us

We are hiring researchers!

Are you a researcher and want to work with fire and fire safety for a sustainable society? Do you like to create projects and solve problems? Then you might be our next employee!

RISE Fire Research is experiencing significant growth in research activity, and is seeking skilled researchers who will help solve important fire and fire safety tasks for society and industry. Workplace is Trondheim.

RISE Fire Research AS is a limited company owned by RISE - Research Institutes of Sweden (70%) and SINTEF (30%). We are located in Trondheim and are Norway's expertise centre on fire. We were founded in 1934, and for over 85 years have worked for increased fire safety in the community. Together with RISE in Sweden, we constitute one of the world's largest fire research environments. We participate in several national and European fire safety research projects. We are also the coordinator of the Fire Research and Innovation Centre FRIC, which was started in 2019 together with SINTEF and NTNU. We research fire and fire safety on land and at sea within constructions, industrial safety, transport and the introduction and use of new technology (battery, hydrogen, solar cells) and more.

As a researcher you will contribute in our research work and to further develop our research portfolio. This includes leading and participating in research projects, as well as writing applications and raising funds for the development of new projects. We carry out applied research and many of our research projects include fire experiments in our laboratories on a small, medium and large / full scale (material testing, jet fire, fire development and extinguishing), so interest in experimental work is important.

You have a PhD or MSc, preferably some experience from industry / business and expertise in fields that are relevant to fire and safety (e.g. fire dynamics, combustion technology, modeling, physics, chemistry, fluid dynamics, social risk, building technology and statistics). Experience from project management is an advantage, but not an absolute requirement.

You must have the ability to work independently, accurately and efficiently, and meet the challenges of varied tasks. We appreciate creativity, dedication, initiative, good collaboration skills and a sense of responsibility. The work will entail contact with both Norwegian and foreign partners, so good written and oral production skills are important, in both Norwegian (possibly Swedish or Danish) and English.

We can offer:

    Flexible working day
    Nice working environment
