Extinguishing systems

Standardized tests of fire extinguishing systems

We offer standardized testing of extinguishing installations like sprinkler and water mist systems, for land based, offshore- or maritime applications.

The tests are performed in our test hall, which is one of the largest test halls for its use worldwide. In the test hall we control both wind and temperature conditions, which gives us the opportunity to conduct a variety of standardized tests and R&D experiments.

We are accredited for the following standardized methods:

  • IMO Res. MSC. 265 (84) Fire test procedures for water mist systems in accommodation, public spaces and service areas on passenger ships.
  • IMO MSC/Circ. 1165 Test method for fire testing equivalent water-based fire-extinguishing systems for machinery spaces of category A and cargo pump-rooms.
  • IMO MSC/Circ. 1387 Test method for fixed water-based local application fire-fighting systems.
  • IMO MSC.1/Circ.1430 Test method for fixed water-based fire-fighting systems for RO-RO spaces and special category spaces.

If you need to conduct tests, either ad hoc tests or tests according to test standards, please contact us and we will help you plan a test programme. We are highly experienced in extinguishing tests and we can therefore offer our clients the confidence they desire when important R&D projects and classification tests are to be carried out.

If there exist test reports documenting the extinguishing system's efficiency, we can make assessments as to whether the system is suitable for other applications as well.
